It gives me great pleasure to introduce this edition of DHSB Today. So much is happening at the school, the opportunity to stop and reflect is most welcome. Mr Roberts has already begun to add to the culture, he shares his thoughts later in this newsletter, and we have enjoyed unprece- dented success on the sports field this year; the 3G has given our dedicated sports staff a fantastic resource to maximise training and competitive opportunities. It's been a busy year for recruitment too. Numerous DHSB colleagues have been promoted and we've been able to recruit strongly for succession. Although bittersweet to lose great people, we want to be known as an organisation that develops all of its people - a virtuous cycle. We'll be recruiting a Director of the DHSB Learning Commons shortly. If you haven’t yet read my blog posts about the Learning Commons then please check my website at kieranearley.co.uk. Enabling different types of learning to work in one flexible space, a Learning Commons should be a sociable space, inviting and purposeful in equal measure. The DHSB Learning Commons will play a crucial part in developing our learning culture and I’m looking for ideas and suggestions for its design. There are some blank plans on our website at www.dhsb.org. Please share your ideas with me. "Where are they now?" is always a favourite among these pages. Connecting the school's work with successful stories from Old Boys reminds us of the impact of the great education DHSB has provided over many years. These magazines themselves become historical documents. Looking back helps us to see how we've adapted to change and how much we're enjoying the learning journey. Kieran Earley Our production of Romeo and Juliet, staged in March, was led by students and the proceeds were donated to the MS Society which offers support and care to those with Multiple Sclerosis.
